Chamber Choir

The Chamber Choir is for Jacketed Graduates who have decided that they want to sing in a professional boychoir through the 12th grade, have developed an advanced level of singer-musicianship, are exemplary choristers, and are able to commit to a second weekly rehearsal (Wednesday evenings, 6:45 – 8:30pm). The Chamber Choir makes up the musical nucleus of the Graduate Choir. Therefore, when the Graduate Choir is called, the Chamber Choir is also called, and moreover, is the essential vocal core of the Graduate Choir in any performance.

Rehearsals: Chamber Choir rehearses every Saturday from 11:00 am until 2:30 pm and every Wednesday evening from 6:45– 8:30pm.

Performances: Members of the Chamber Choir perform at the KSB Holiday and Spring concerts, the annual KSB Grad Concert and many other “non-CY” concerts throughout the season. The Chamber Choir, as part of the Graduate Choir, also performs at the annual CY Gala concert at the Kimmel Center.

Saturday Absence/Make-up Policy: Each Saturday rehearsal consists of two sessions: the first runs from 11:00am to 12:30pm and the second runs from 1:00pm to 2:30 pm. A missed session requires one Sunday night make-up rehearsal. If a singer misses an entire Saturday rehearsal (both sessions), two Sunday night make-up rehearsals are required. Missing the “extended” part of an extended Saturday rehearsal (2:30 – 3:00) also requires one make-up rehearsal. Chamber Choir members are permitted to miss one Saturday rehearsal in the Fall semester, and two in the Spring semester without having to make them up. In addition to the allotted missed rehearsal(s) each semester, juniors and seniors may miss an additional rehearsal per season in order to take the SAT exam. Wednesday Absence/Make-up Policy: There are no make-ups for Wednesday rehearsals. Therefore, a young man cannot accept membership into the Chamber Choir unless he can consistently attend the Wednesday rehearsal. Chamber Choir members are permitted to miss one unexcused Wednesday rehearsal in the Fall semester and two in the Spring semester. Other missed Wednesday rehearsals must be excused by the music directors.

Concert Tours: Members of the Chamber Choir are automatically invited to participate in KSB concert tours, ASSUMING they are in good standing in the areas of singer-musicianship, rehearsal and performance attendance, and behavior.
