Bring A Friend Day a success for Keystone State Boychoir

What better way to share the fun and excitement of being part of Keystone State Boychoir (KSB) than bringing along a fellow singer to Bring a Friend Day? KSB’s September event was part of an incredibly successful recruiting season that saw 100 boys audition and 33 new members become part of the 170 voice ensemble.

The largest recruitment ever is just part of KSB’s continuing growth and success. Sixteen KSB members (as well as12 members from sister-choir Pennsylvania Girlchoir) were in the chorus for the Opera Company of Philadelphia’s fall 2012 performances of Puccini’s La Bohème, continuing a year that included the choir appearing on Broadway in Oliver!, commissioning and performing a piece with Pennsylvania Girlchoir entitled The Good Raised Up — a collaboration between Commonwealth Youthchoirs and the Johnson House Historic Site — appearing with vocalist Sonia M’Barek in the “Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture” series, and KSB’s summer 2012 tour of Norway and the Arctic Circle, including singing at a ceremony in Oslo, Norway, for Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, where they presented her with a replica of the Liberty Bell.
